Hello everyone! I'm a rising senior in high school student and I'm interested in TEETH!!! But... I'm not sure if my stats are competitive enough to be accepted to these 6, 7, 8 year dental programs.

Boston University- 7 year
Case Western- 6 year
NYU- 7 year
Buffalo- 7 year
Southern Illinois School of Dentistry- 7 year
Temple- 7 year
University of Detroit Mercy- 7 year
University of Florida- 7 year
University of Illinois School of Dentistry- 7 year
University of Medicine an Dentistry of New Jersey- 7 year
UoP- 5, 6, 7 year
UPenn- 7 year

Academic GPA (No electives): 3.75 W, 3.38 UW
Total GPA: 3.78 W, 3.44 UW
10-11 GPA: 3.95 W, 3.41 UW
4 AP classes so far, taking 4 more senior year.
33 ACT / 710 SAT Chem / 740 SAT Math Level 2
I'm in some clubs at school and I help disabled people at a local community center..

Should I even bother applying to these programs? I slacked off freshmen and half of sophomore year. But I started trying after, so my GPA has an upward trend.

Thanks!!!!!! Do you know which programs are the easiest to get into? Because I'm pretty sure I won't even have a chance at UoP, or UPenn. I'll definitely take a look at Marquettes

UTHSCSA also has a 3+4 program called the DEAP (Dental Early Acceptance Program).

The primary purpose for many of these early admission programs is to select highly motivated students who would most likely serve the rural community or the undeserved. So to answer your question, I don't think any of these programs are 'easy' to get into unless you happen to be that highly motivated student these programs are after.

33 on the ACT? That's sick. I remember getting a 23 when I took it ):

Like someone said above, no programs are easy to get into. For specific average accepted stats I would look on program websites or possibly email the director for more information AND stats ( don't just ask for numbers). I was looking at Marquette once upon a time and I remember their avg accepted student was around 30 ACT and very high GPA ( never gave a number). I think I had like a 3.8 UW and and maybe like a 4.5 W, every school does weighting differently, but the director said I was in the ballpark of accepted students. Best of luck.

It doesn't hurt to apply- just don't let it get to you if you get rejected. I planned on doing something similar in high school, and figured I would get in (valedictorian, 4.5 GPA, 35 ACT, 2200 SAT, lots of volunteering, etc) but nope. Not one acceptance (out of your list I applied to Case in addition to other programs). I did get interviewed by the program at Stony Brook, but didn't make the cut, and now I'm applying to dental school and going the traditional route. If you do apply to these programs try to get as many dental shadowing hours as you can- I'm convinced that's what hurt me. Even though you're just in high school, these programs want to see that you're committed to dentistry, so shadow as much as you can.

I was accepted in UDM's 7 year dental program, and my high school stats were 3.5 total GPA and 31 ACT. The thing that really helped me get in was my interview.

As someone in the 5 year UoP pre-dental program, I think you have a shot at UoP, but the GPA just might break it. However, I can tell you that the school's requirements for consideration as you see on their website (I think 3.7GPA, 31ACT) are not set in stone. They also look at your coursework, passion for dentistry as conveyed in your personal statement, etc...

I am currently a second year undergrad and will move on to dental school soon. Let me know (pm me) if you need any help applying. Thanks
