Does anyone have any insight in how admissions perceives accelerated post-bac programs? I have a BA in Economics with a lousy gpa and an MFA in literary criticism (school does not use the traditional letter grade format rather descriptive essays) however if converted would most likely be an A average. Since I had no science courses I am currently in an accelerated post-bac program (each module is 8 wks) and will receive a second bachelor's in human biology upon it's completion. Just wondering how admissions may view this and how much weight will be given to my performance in undergrad.

I'm in an accelerated post bac. My program is 2 years or 6 quarters of work. I think that's enough to rectify a poor academic record if I continue to get A's in my classes.

The general notion that I had gotten from adcoms was that to make up for a low GPA (below 3.0 GPA), you need to show consistent and stellar work of 3.5 GPA and higher for 4 semesters or 6 quarters. University of Detroit Mercy mentions 3 terms.

The 2 year tenure shows consistency. Anyone can take one semester and rock that. But to do it over 4 semesters or 6 quarters shows that your recent success is not a fluke.
