  1. Pre-Dental
Hey so I took my first DAT, last year 2010 and applied to all the Cali, NY, FL and Arizona schools. I scored AA 18 TS 18 21 PAT. I got interviews at Western and Midwestern in AZ. I didnt get into any schools this year so I decided to retake my DAT to improve my scores. I scored AA 19 21 TS 20 PAT, my lowest score was a 16 in RC (Pianoed lol). So my question is what are my chances of getting into schools this year with my stats and should I take my DAT again in 3 months hoping to score even higher. I really want to get into USC as it is my state school and close to home. I have taken all my prereqs at a community college and have a science GPA of 3.6 and overall 3.6. I want to take a Anatomy/Physiology course online at UCLA extension over the summer and Biochemistry online at UC Berkley extension. What do you guys think i should do in my year off and how do my chances look to getting into schools with my scores and GPA. I have tons of dental office experience (over 600 hrs) and lots of volunteer work and research.

Thank you in advance sorry for the long thread lol im just really worried.

I think the major things going to hold you back are the 16 in RC, almost all your prereqs at a cc, and upper level classes online. I think most schools like to see your major science courses done at a 4 yr univ.

Your other scores are great, though, sucks that RC is pulling you down 🙁

I wouldn't be surprised if it was because you took all your pre-req classes at a community college. Don't you think that may look like you tried taking the "easy" way out? Just my two cents. You may need to revisit your application and see if there are any red flags. Maybe try calling schools and asking WHY you didn't get in would help.

doubt it... He got 21 TS... demonstrating he learned his sciences well.

To OP: the good news is, USC and ASDOH are the only 2 schools that think RC is "somewhat unimportant". Its up to you if you want to retake or not.... However, I would strongly advice you to apply to 15-20 schools.

all the best

RC is too low. Some schools have cutoffs at 17.

I would call schools, tell them your RC score and the other scores, and see if you should even bother applying to them. I would also suggest applying to many schools, but you have to do your research and find what schools wont automatically reject you for a sub 17 in the RC.

I think the CC is the biggest of your worries, 16RC is alright, not a big problem for most schools. MWU AZ and Western already interviewed you, so you should be okay with the RC.

Just so that you know, USC is NOT a state school and the cost of attendance there is astronomical. Avoid it like the plague.
