I was recently accepted to a midwest medical school recently. I worry that since I did an informal post-bacc where I picked and chose my own classes I might be missing a lab. Just because the school accepted me, does this mean they have looked over and "approved" my classes? Here are the requirements on their site:

Course:Semester Hours
Biology (with lab):8

Chemistry, Inorganic (with lab):8

Chemistry, Organic (with lab):8-10

Physics (with lab):8

My Courses Taken on a Quarter System
Biology: Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology

Chemistry: Chem1a, Chem1b, Chem1c, Chem1b Lab, Chem1c Lab

Organic Chemistry: Chem51a, Chem51b, Chem51c, Chem51b Lab, Chem51c Lab

Physics: Physics1a, Physics1b, Physics1c, Physics1c Lab

My Courses Taken on a Semester System
Biology: Cell Biology with Lab

My concerns are in red. As a computer science major, I only had to take 1 physics lab. All the "hours" add up to those required and the school does not mention any number of required labs. Can they reject me at a later time based on any missing labs?

No, I can say that for many schools, they do not necessarily verify your prereqs before acceptance. This is because most schools only require that prereqs be completed before MATRICULATION. I had to send in a transcript to the admissions office ~1 month before school started for them to verify my prereqs.

Often the prereqs are mandated by state law, so if you don't meet them, they can revoke your acceptance. Call your school NOW and verify that you meet all the prereqs. Specifically tell them your concern.

I totally agree. Don't set yourself up to find out in June that you have to take a lab in a hurry this summer before school starts. Give yourself the time to deal with any unmet requirement, and figure out what choices you have. You might be able to use a (possibly) more interesting micro or biochem lab (if you can get into one) as a substitute, for example.

Thanks guys. I'll have to check with them on Monday 🙁

Just ask the school. They aren't going to take your acceptance away, but they might ask you to go ahead and take the labs. Don't put yourself in a bind later by hoping it's all OK and not checking out what you actually need to do. Congrats on your acceptance.
