I interviewed with my state school and they recommended that I retake my DAT bc I have a 17AA. Sweet. Okay, well the problem is that now I am studying for my retake in Dec. and I can't focus and I can't put my all into it because I keep thinking that maybe, just MAYBE, I'll be accepted on Dec 1st and I won't have to retake afterall. I know this is a pipedream and I need to kick my ass into gear with this studying... BUT, does anyone know of someone who was accepted before their "suggested" retake? I mean, if they realllly loved me at the interview (I was interviewed the first day) then wouldn't they just take me in with my measly 17?? Thoughts?

okay...back to studying....😎

i'd say that if they told you to retake, then at least they have some inkling that you'll follow through with their advice. if the interviewer said this, he/she may have written it in their notes, and so the admissions committee will probably see that. and remember, a Dec 1st decision isn't guaranteed, you may get a decision much later like March (acceptance or rejection). but it could be that they are waiting on a DAT retake. anyway, you should probably lockdown seeing as your head is already into it!
good luck.

Similar situation...I was interviewed and told my DAT scores were kind of low and I was given mixed signals about them being too low but then I was told "well you are here at the interview so..." hinting they must be good enough for an interview..so I don't know what to think. At this point I had the interview and have more coming up so what can I say, push all the decisions back even longer and make my chances even slimmer, or go on the fact that the scores cant be that bad to have gotten an interview.

Sorry I should rephrase that... I paid my $400 to ADA and I am DEFINATELY retaking no matter what. I guess I'm just thinking that it would be a load off my shoulders not having the pressure of the retake being the only thing that is holding me back. But in that case, life would just be tooo easy 🙂

Thanks for your advice!

I took DAT today. It was bad; since I haven't touched the subjects for a year and just studied it for a month before I took it.
The program looks different than last time I took in 2006.
I think you can do better because you are still in school.
I haven't made my brain think for a year.... my problem solving speed dropped below the average...
Anyway, good luck...

haha does anyone have some kind of motivating story?
