Has anyone been denied at uhscom?? can you tell me why??

I have an upcoming interview there and REALLY want to get in.

I am afraid, though, that because I really do not have a great deal of medical experience that that may be a real sticking point in the interview and may get me a denial... most of my life experience is in technology like computers and electronics... and that is even my current full time job.... right out of school as an electrical engineer!

any help???? THANKS!!!!!!!!

Make sure during your interview that they know that UHS is where you want to go, and have a few reasons. I would be blunt, and say something to the effect that "UHS is my number one choice, if you accept me I will come here." Schools want students who want to be there(they are happier, more likely to due better, less likely to complain or want to transfer).

If you have an interview you will most likely have an acceptance, but that being said, you need to be yourself. All the interviewers care about is the "person" they are interviewing. Remember to ask them lots of questions, and show that you have an interest in their role at UHS. I asked my interviewer about her private practice and how it is affected by managed care in KC. Don't come up with stupid canned questions and answers, because after a long day of interviewing they don't want to hear it. Remember to ask your interviewers about the Genesis curriculum and what they think of it. It is a rather new curriculum at UHS, and it shows you are interested in the school to ask questions about the curriculum.
I also don't believe the interviewers have a say in "accept this person", rather they are evaluating you as a person, and the admissions committee will decide based on that evaluation if you are a good fit. If you are truly interested in attending UHS, you need to let the admissions people know that.
One last thing, once you find out who your interviewers are, make sure you ask the student ambassadors and even students passing by questions about your interviewers. Chances are good that at least one of your interviewers is a professor, and we can give you feedback on their type of personality or the types of questions they might ask you.
Good luck!

thanks for the advice guys... anymore out there??

anyone actually been denied?? do you know why??? if you do not want to post it, you can still pm... please?!?!

thanks!

I just interviewed today and the staff implied that pretty much everyone at the interview was accepted. And that the only reason an applicant would be rejected is if they knew absolutely nothing about Osteopathic medicine.

wow, thats encouraging. do you think it will be like that for all of the interview groups, just the first few interview groups??

You'll be fine. Just be yourself, and don't stress out. The fact that you are interviewing this early is good. Read the interview feedback for ideas on hypothetical questions, the interviewers like to repeat questions. Depending on your interviewer, it may be very conversational. I actually got into a little debate with my interviewer. He was testing me to see if I would stand by my opinion. The key thing is (and I know I'm repeating myself) is to be yourself and relax.

Good luck,

january is early?

i am very excited about this, but at the same time very nervous... i dunno... i just wanna get in... :/

Just read the interview feedback.

I was asked some of the same questions that appear on the interview feedback. I was also asked for one SINGLE greatest strength/weakness instead of listing a few. Also be prepared with a time you had an ethical situation in your life and how you reacted.

I know what you mean. One of my interviewers was Dr. Butterworth and when I walked in her and the other interviewer were going off about the chiefs loss to the Bengals. I figured it wasn't the best time to declare my silver and black pride

Seriously though, I really enjoyed the school and my interviewers were very nice.
