Hey guys,

I just wanted to ask about the acceptance timeline for DO schools. So I'm applying both DO and MD schools and although I don't have an acceptance yet I was wondering if I can hold a DO acceptance until may 15th also, or do i need to decide immediately after the offer?

thanks

If possible to hold a DO acceptance until May 15th, but not without paying some hefty deposits first depending on what DO school you get accepted at. Deposits range from $100 to $3000.

Yeah deposits can be hefty, I say pick the D.O. school that you feel is the best for you if you got accepted to more than one school and pay the deposit. And while that is going on wait for an M.D. and then decide what you want to do from there. Goodluck

I have the same concern. Long-story short, I want to wait to see if I get accepted at a school close to my parents' house. So, if I pay the deposit I can wait for answers from other schools? Because a friend who is currently in Medical School told me that once you pay the deposit and say "yes" to one school you are automatically withdrawn from the other schools; is this true??

How can I say "yes" to one school while keeping my options open, waiting for the other schools' replies?

You say "yes" with deposit money and some paperwork. If you decide to back out later, they keep your money and you go to the other school of your choice. If money isn't a problem then you can keep your options open.

So your answer is: with money.
