OK status update I'm accepted into SGU, but would still like to stick with my dream of DO, is it worth throwing away my carbi acceptance and taking a risk with my $70K+ dept?

Undergrad GPA 3.35 Sci 3.5 With upward trend.
Grad 3.65 GPA

MCAT 8V 13P 12B J (Yes, I'm working on finding out what happened there)

What would be my chances of getting into DO school?
Looking at PCOM and KCOM, slight dreams of MSUCOM.

Still need to complete Physics 2 w/lab and both Orgo labs.

No letter from DO, only MD and Physio Prof.

DO is far better than Caribbean MD.

Well, SGU is definitely your best option IF you went to the Caribbean. Check out their match lists. They are just as impressive if not moreso than some DO schools (not including PCOM, NYCOM, and a few others that consistenly have impressive matches). Every year they have grads match into rads, gas, and once in a while (very rarely) they will get one person in ophtho or even derm. These students probably have some sort of connection, in addition to awesome grades and ridiculous Step 1 scores, though.

It's up to you. Usually you should do the Caribbean thing after you've exhausted all options; have you applied DO yet? It sounds like you haven't. However, if you tell SGU now you don't want the spot, you may burn bridges with them, and if you don't get into a DO school, you're left with less options.

Do you want to live in Grenada? I'd rather live in any crap city in the US before I went there. Anyway, your GPA isn't horrible but it isn't great. If you are tenacious, and the rest of your app is impressive, I'd risk it and apply DO. There's always Ross, AUC, and Saba if that doesn't work out.

Based on your numbers, I'd think you have an excellent chance at a DO school. As for those individual schools, it's tough to tell, but if you applied broadly, I'd think your numbers are good enough.

So you have to ask yourself what's important. If your dream is to be a DO, as you said, then I say go for it. Do well on your remaining classes, and get some good LOR's. There's no reason not to follow your dreams at this point.

A DO is wayyyyy better than an FMD. I would without a doubt apply to DO schools.

I think you have a great chance, assuming you maintain that undergrad science gpa and do well in Orgo and Phys. I agree with walkoffhr, though; I would make sure you apply to more than just those 3 schools, though I think you have a fair chance at them. I think your DO dream is is verry possible at this point.
