Ok, so I called them on the 1st (last Wednesday) to check up on things, and Colleen told me that they will being reviewing the alternate list in 2 weeks.. sooo i guess just cross fingers right now. I'm wondering if it was 2 thursdays from then.. which would be this thursday... or 2 full weeks... I wish we could find out the day they make their decision so that I don't have to go to my other interviews..
Crap. Why does this process have to be so ambiguous?!?!? Does this mean that if we haven't heard by now, we should assume we've been placed on the alternate list? Weren't they going to send us a letter either way (reject/admit/alternate)? I don't understand....
I thought that maybe my application had been held up because one of their DOs wrote my DO LOR and hadn't gotten it in by the day we interviewed. I know they won't review the file until it's there, but when I asked Ms. Faim about it at the end of the day, she told me not to worry. I called last Tuesday and got a message back saying that they had, indeed, gotten the letter. Then Friday (the 3rd), I called again and spoke to Annette (<--I think she's the secretary, but I'm not sure). She said my file was "under review" and when I mentioned that they'd told us we'd hear this week (being last week, of course), I directly asked her if there was a problem with my application. She got a bit tongue-tied, said she'd "talk to June about it" and then told me I'd be getting a letter next week (being now this week...).
😕 It didn't make any sense, but I didn't want to push her further than that--it always seems like such a fine line in this process between being assertive and being obnoxious!
🙁
As you mention, though, megpie111, this makes it awfully difficult to make decisions. <sigh> Is anyone else starting to feel really worn out by this process? This is year two of applying for me and I'm getting discouraged....
