Accepted and Matriculation

This may be a silly question, but is being accepted and sending a deposit the same thing as matriculation? I'm thinking that it is, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

I believe matriculation involves undergoing a school's orientation program....the deposit only holds your spot, but actually getting involved in a school's planned programs seals the deal

Sending money does not constitute matriculation. Going to orientation does.

GOod! I was hoping that they weren't the same! I didn't want to have to explain that I was accepted to an offshore school, but didn't go so that I could reapply to US schools. Thanks!

not matriculating won't save you from having to explain why you didn't attend because you were accepted. just for the simple fact that you were accepted can warrant an explanation of why you didn't attend. just because you decided not to matriculate doesn't mean they won't be aware of the acceptance.
