Is accepted.com legitimate? Have you ever purchased the book Write Your Way to Medical School: How to Create a Winning Application? What did you think of it? Was it a good investment? How did it help you through the admissions process?

Are there any other books and sites you would recommend that give helpful advice/tips/information on applying to medical school?

Are there any current medical students who can give out some advice to prospective medical students on the application process? Things you should have done/should not have done, etc.

Posting links to threads on here regarding this topic that you have come across would be appreciated as I am so tired of searching. Thanks.

I didn't buy a book and I still got in. I recommend just going to a bookstore, grabbing the book and sitting down with it and a piece of paper and skim. It's not hard at all. unless you really just want to spend that money...

Thanks for the input, I'd rather not spend the money if I don't need to. Will bookstores let you sit and read the book, take down information, and leave without buying it?

I've never been to a bookstore with a "you read it, you bought it" policy. Go for it. You could even buy it to browse --carefully-- at home and then return it (not that I would ever even contemplate doing such a thing).

Yep, thats why barnes and noble has those huge comfy chairs 🙂

Really though, as long as you're just skimming for headers and stuff, you should be fine. Also, if you have any former premed friends who have moved on to med school who bought any of that stuff feel free to ask them for it since they have no use for it anymore. I have my brother's REALLY REALLY old book that I'm sure he got from someone else a long time ago...

I'm surprised, I just thought that they were for students who study there, etc. Haha. When I get a chance I'll have to take your advice.

Lol. well they're for anyone to read/study. But I always see people reading stuff that they're not buying anyways. And as a side note, I don't know if barnes and noble has the books you're looking for...I looked in my university bookstore. they had big comfy chairs in there too 🙂
