For those of you who have already landed an acceptance somewhere, is anyone else having a hard time putting in the same amount of effort you did before you knew you got in? After accepting admission to OSU, I have had the hardest time putting in the extra hours of studying for midterms and papers as I did before January. Meaning, I feel may grades may not be as stellar as they should be 😛
 
Me? Noooooooo (as I sit in phy 2 daydreaming and reading SDN)
 
Oh gawd yes. I have the worst case of senioritis. Just gotta keep pushing myself. It's a struggle though.
 
Shoot I had a hard time putting in effort before I got accepted. Now it's pretty much pointless. But I shall drudge on. At least ya'll get to do science classes. Business classes SUCK.
 
haha im an anthropology major, so not too much science here! I sit through hours of opinion on theory, which is by far the worst thing ever!!!!!!
 
Physics test tomorrow that I still haven't studied for...uhh?

lol you're not the first person to say that to me in the past couple days. Unfortunately i'm in electricity and magnetism (not mechanics), where things can fall up if there's a wire and an opposite charge 😎
 
Oh yes, the second semester of physics (or it was ours). I truly loathed that semester.

All I remember from that is the thumb rule in how things revolve around wires.

No acceptances yet here and I'm already ready to blow off this semester (and it's only the second week). Must focus, must focus....
 
Me three..phy 2 is horrible and evil..I *hate* that class...magnets, static, charges...
On top of that I have a 3 1/2 orgo lecture tonight. Yes, be envious.

Physics 2 is so boring and I'm so unmotivated. I at least have to get a C- to not get my offer rescinded so I guess I'm in the clear...but ugh I don't wanna do it! lol
 
Just think about the people that aren't going to grad school after college. They've had to deal with motivation issues the entire 4 years
 
Wow! Reading this thread makes me glad that I took all of my hard classes and pre-reqs early. However, I am pretty sure I just failed my human anatomy and physiology exam over cardiac function. It was terrible. He did tell the class that it would be on a sophmore level and then proceeded to tell us that he has taught this class at 4 universities; 1 of which was Harvard. :meanie: 😡 ...I am definetly not in Harvard for a reason (one would be because I don't want to be). Why do I have to pick the difficult profs (the other classes prof but up a review powerpoint and then asked 35 questions verbatim from the powerpoint). Oh well, I guess I will have to get my butt into gear and seriously study to pass this prof's class🙄. Too bad the only points we have are the 4 exams we are getting throughout the semester and this prof seems like such a hardass that there will probably not be a curve. Good luck to everyone else with exams while waiting to hear back from schools. :luck:

That sounds like my mammalogy class. People avoid the class because the professor is insane. The lab instructor even admitted to docking points on exams for bad penmanship if you got too many things right. Basically making it impossible to get too good of a grade :meanie:

That's just lame. WTF - if someone works hard enough to get a really good grade on a test...doesn't it make sense that they should get the grade????:bullcrap: Sounds like someone's a little bitter about teaching or past grades or something.

I'm actually enjoying my last semester of undergrad...I have molecular and parasitology, and while they're hard classes, they're more than doable with just 12 credit hours. I am definitely going to miss my school - friends, the profs, etc. But I have a feeling vet school will make up for that. 😛 Speaking of molecular...off to study for a quiz!

I'm so jealous of your parasitology class! We used to have one at my school, but the professor retired a few years ago and they've yet to find a replacement 🙁.

And yes, it is really lame. If someone knows the material, who cares if they don't have perfect penmanship?! I mean, if you can't read their handwriting without great difficulty, ok, but come on. If it's legible, it should be fine.

what does that mean exactly? i didn't go to grad school after college and i was plenty motivated to go WORK AND MAKE MONEY!??!
 
Aiming for a C in microbio...that's a bit out of the norm. So yes, that lack of motivation is hitting me pretty hard too 🙂

Our prof is technically retired...he has been for like 6 years...but they can't find anyone good enough to replace him so he keeps coming back :laugh: He's 72 and is one of the best profs I've ever had.

Sorry I meant that it must be hard for people to motivate themselves to make A's in classes when they aren't applying to graduate school or anything that looks at their grades
 
hee. nope, i was motivated enough to graduate summa cum laude from my first undergrad experience and didnt go straight to grad school...but here many years later, that has helped me get interviews at vet schools at least!

I'm having a hard time, and I'm not accepted yet. These are my last two classes I need to graduate, so I HAVE to pass, but I just don't give a crap. Plus, I'm sleeping poorly and eating less, so I think I'm stressing about the interview no matter if I'm willing to admit it or not. I also feel less like posting, so if that's been sparse, well... sorry. I'll know in a month and a half. Month and a half.

Ugh.
 
Yeah I havent studied for any of my classes, Ive watched more TV and played more video games then ever. It real bad...

🙁 How many schools did you apply to twelvetigers? Not that you need to apply to more than one, because you WILL get in!!!!! No luck needed!
 
I'll just say thank God physics is over! My physics prof from last year passed a way about a month ago... he was very old, but so smart! A real gentleman! He made the class bearable and even interesting.

I have to start cracking the book for biochem II... but I'm just about done this year. Last semester (19 cd and work, then winter classes) just about sapped the life out of me. T-102 Days until graduation! 😀

Just OKSU. I have a house, my husband has a job, etc etc so I'd rather just stay here. But if there is a next time, I will be applying other places.
 
I just gave up on my physics homework. I'll settle for a 70% rather than my usual 100%. I just can't put in the same amount of effort knowing that a) I'm already going to vet school b) physics will not benefit me whatsoever as a vet and c) All I need is a C- to go to vet school. Hate this damn class.
 
I've only gotten 3 B's in my entire life, but now that I've gotten in to vet school, I'm shooting for C's... I love it!!
 
Ok - am I the only one here who can't seem to turn off the "must get an A" button besides the fact that I'm in? Would you guys care to share some of that care free attitude? :nod:

Some vet school scholarship applications want you to report your overall undergrad GPA, especially in your first year of vet school when you don't have those grades to go on yet, so its not a bad ideas to "not turn off this button" if you plan to apply for scholarships, whether it be through the school or outside sources. Unless at this point in your total credits an A or a B isn't going to change the GPA too much.

Haha - thanks for the advice. I can't turn it off - probably because I know I'm paying like $70 a lecture! I have no problem studying this semester because I have all bio courses...I love bio. Now if it was physics...that might be a different story! 😛

Just curious - I've read other posts on the forum about K state - and they say that you fill out a scholarship form at the beginning of the year. Are any of the scholarships that people compete for worth much? I've read the scholarship lists on the K state site, but most of them don't have amounts. I need ALL the help I can get since I will be paying for this all on my own :scared:. It is really really daunting. I've done a lot of scholarship searching and there doesn't seem to be much when it comes to national scholarships. And after calculating out how much I would have to pay back on loans with compounded interest in 20 years...well...:boom:

I had that button on for the last 2 years, Ochem was the only clas it malfunctioned in. It's broken right now for Biochem. Actually I think Biochem is giving me ulcers! I'm shooting for a C and wishing this first test would just be OVER!!!
 
I'm in, I know what I'm doing next fall but now......


....I still have a Master's thesis to write! Ahhhhhh!!!! :laugh: Joke's on me
 
ugh so I am so laid back in classes that now I did terrible on my first couple of tests! looks like I need to turn that "have to do well in school" button back on

because that would be the worst thing ever if I lost my acceptance because I was too lazy to try my last semester!
