Yeah. For people that have been following COMP threads, you remember that there were people that stated that they weren't accepted and they actually continued to bash the school for a while after that.

COMP's acceptance rate is about 20%, which is not low for a med school but you're not going to get the other 80% of people admitting to it on this forum.

People are asking about Western because it has a strong program and they are trying to make up their minds. I'd be worried if Western doesn't get these comparison threads, like many other schools. Especially we all know that there basically is no DO dream school(like Harvard or insert what you want) that requires no 2nd guessing at all. Maybe some of the state DO schools can get a psuedo dream school response from its applicants because of the tuition, but that's about it.

i got accepted to western as well...i think people ask about western because there is very very little useful information about the school from the website. i mean there are no pictures of the school...everyone talks about how unattractive it is, but nobody on here ever actually puts any pics of it! i thought it looked kind of cool actually, but i'm from alabama, and super wal-mart looks cool to me! also, there are a lot of western students who complain about the school and rotations as well as some who are all excited about them, so there is not a clear opinion about the school, even among western students...add all this to the accomplished match lists, and people are unsure of what to do...like is it really western that produces these strong graduates or is it really a selection effect, where all the motivated kids are attracted by the match list and just go there...i think western will be better next year once that new housing opens up cuz at least it will have on-campus housing then.

I didn't mean for this poll to be a heated debate . . . more for fun. I know why people ask for comparisons. It's just funny (to me) that many of them are a comparison of COMP to another school. It's as if everyone gets accepted there. Just a humerous observation. That's all. 🙂

my application has been complete for since end of feb/beg of march and i havent heard anything from them yet. 😡

Perhaps because you're going to COMP you just notice those threads more? Like when I was at an interview and I commented that there were an awfully disproportionate number of females on campus and one girl was like, "To me it looks the same, you just notice the girls more!" lol

Yeah I know I sometimes over-analyze things. That's just me... at least it adds my personal touch to my comments and personal point of view. Congrats to your deferral and it means that you won't see class 2008 around when you're here and girl you don't know what you'll be missing.

Uh-oh! Sounds like class of 2008 is the happenin' group! 😀 I guess I'll have to start up some of my own action when I get there.
