Hello all,

I have a few questions about the logistics, once accepted.

-When is the final date where I can only hold one acceptance?
-Where do you make this decision? Is there somewhere in AMCAS or AAMC that i login to confirm the school i want to attend? Or is it in the portals we have been using for secondaries?

I've been accepted, but I'm lost as far as the logistics of moving forward now. Can someone please tell me what to expect in the coming few months, before matriculation?

I know this is probably a really newbie question, or may seem silly.

Thank you in advance.

I'm holding on to two MD acceptances right now. One had a 100$ acceptance fee and the other did not (just asked a yes or no). But, I'm starting to lean towards one, and will likely give up my acceptance at the other spot. Is all of this just done through the portals, or is there some larger centralized location? Again, apologies if my question is really dumb or if the answer is completely obvious.

Write to the school you choose and say you are coming. Write to the school you aren't choosing and say thanks but no thanks. Must be done by 4/30 I think.

Last day to have multiple spots reserved is April 30.

The school you choose to matriculate at should have some additional paperwork, and they will inform AMCAS, I think.

You also should tell the other school you are withdrawing.

An what happens if you forget to tell the other school past April 30th. Do both schools contact you or something?

They probably do their best to confirm but would be forced to assume you're choosing elsewhere if you just remain incommunicado

Regarding the whole "accepted, then what" topic, when is the deadline to submit transcripts to schools. I'm no longer in school so I can send it anytime but prefer to wait until I make up mind on which school I'm matriculating at and then send it to that school only. Is there any disadvantage in not sending the transcript for a month or two after getting accepted?

Different schools have different deadlines, most seem to be in June or early July

It is entirely up the applicant to make sure that he/she has formally declined in writing/email all acceptances directly to each school by April 30th except the one then intend to matriculate at. Failure to do so can result in acceptances being rescinded without notice or recourse. See below for an example policy (emphasis added)

Admitted Applicants | Tufts University School of Medicine
April 30 Multiple Acceptance Deadline

"If you receive an offer of acceptance from more than one school or program, choose the school at which you will enroll by April 30. Then, promptly withdraw your application, by written correspondence, from all other schools or programs that have offered you an acceptance." - From the AAMC Application and Acceptance Protocols - Applicants.

This rule means that after April 30, accepted applicants should be holding only one accepted position in one school at any one time. However, in addition to that one accepted position, applicants are free to hold an unlimited number of wait list positions, and they are free at any time prior to actual enrollment to accept a new offer from a preferred school, so long as they then immediately decline the previously held acceptance.

Medical schools report their acceptances and withdrawals to AMCAS. That data then becomes available to all admissions officers via the AMCAS database, so that during the summer any admissions officer can view any applicant's current accepted positions. If you are holding a position in our entering class after April 30, and the AMCAS database indicates that you are also holding a position at another school(s), we will request that you decline all but one of your accepted positions. If you do not do so promptly, we will rescind your position in our class. This is common practice, and you can expect most medical schools to enforce this policy.
As far as WL go, what is "immediately"? Do I have a couple of days to think it over? I have heard 5 business days, but just wanted to confirm.
