Hey all! I just got a letter from Case today saying that since I didn't get in off the wait list for fall '06, they have decided to defer my acceptance to the fall of '07! Anyone else from Case's waiting list get in for next year?

Money saved?!?!? I wish! I still sent in all my secondaries to the schools that wanted...I'm holding off on some of the application fees of some of the schools b/c I am running out of money! I quit my job last May to take 2 semesters of organic chemistry over the summer, and was hoping that something would work out from one of three waiting lists that I was on. That didn't happen, so now I am looking for another job, so I can afford to eat until I start dental school. I live about an hour from NYC, so most of the schools I applied to I can drive to if they want to interview me.
Money saved! I wish!

But I wasn't accepted in the first place, just on the waiting list (and in the bottom third of that list to boot)

They continue:
"We will begin issuing letters of acceptance for the Fall 2007 entering class on December 1, 2006. At that time the Office of Admissions will reissue your letter of acceptance."

Whats up with the 'reissue'. It wasn't issued in the first place.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

I think we're in for sure -- I think this letter is the "acceptance" letter, but we get the real ones in December. I was in the middle 3rd of the waiting list. I emailed Mr. Dalsky, as I had received a letter asking me to come interview again a few days ago, and I thought he had said that people on the waiting list didn't have to....so he mailed me back, saying that those people who get a deferred acceptance don't have to. So he basically told me that the committee voted to grant me a deferral to fall 2007, that I don't have to fly to Cleveland again, and congratulations! I'm guessing that the congrats from him and in the letter mean beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are in.

Yeah, I took the DAT and applied in January (decided to make a career switch around Thanksgiving). If I had applied 6 months earlier, I think I would have gotten in.

I GOT THE LETTER TOO!!! I guess I know two of my furture classmates now. Too bad they sent me the letter right after I sent my applications for the 2007 cycle and I wasted 800 dollars... That didn't feel that great... I wonder how many ppl and what criteria does CASE offer deferrals to, cuz i was at the top third of the Alternate list... Did you guys have research experience?
