I found out this week I received a scholarship to a DO school I've been accepted at, but I'm unsure if I want to attend this school. The deadline to accept or decline the award is in a few weeks, but I'm still heavily interested in several MD schools that post-interview waitlisted me (so I likely won't be accepted for several months, if ever).

Is it frowned upon to accept the award without a solid commitment of attending?

Take the money. You said yourself that you probably won't be accepted.

I assume you've already paid (or will soon have to pay) a deposit at the DO school? If so, accept the award... There's nothing binding about accepting a scholarship.

If you end up getting an acceptance to a more preferable school, just send a polite e-mail ASAP telling them that you will not be attending. Hopefully the award can then be passed on to another student.
