I was wondering what all of you reapplicants are doing with schools that have the same secondary prompts? I tried accessing the previous year's on their website but it looks like they're already updated, so I can't retrieve my long essays. Has anyone emailed the school asking them for a copy of your responses last year? I don't have them saved and would hate to spend all that time reanswering the same questions!

yeah you should definitely call up each of the schools individually. if the office secretaries can't help you, try to talk directly to the dean of admissions and see if he/she can pull your old files. should show that you are very committed to this path, proving your growth and willingness to improve yourself. there can't really be much more to say in those diversity essays and personal characteristics anyways

DO you not have the essays on your computer?

This is why it is a good idea to save all your essays on your PC. That being said, I have to say that I would not reuse the exact same secondary essays if you are reapplying. I think you should totally rework those essays to incorporate the new things you have done since last year, the new perspectives you have gained, and ways you have improved your application. Many schools will access the previous application and have it side by side with the new one when they are reviewing your file. You need to show them how you have improved since last year.

HAHAHA, awesome.

Don't reuse your old secondaries. I purposely didn't save my essays so that if I had to reapply I wouldn't reuse them. In hindsight this turned out to be a mistake, but only because I wish I could have seen what I did wrong. Even if you write on the same topic (for example diversity) at least start from scratch so you don't look lazy.

If you didn't get in last time, why in heaven's name would you re-use the same essays? Re-write your essays. Being a re-applicant means you put more work into perfecting your application, not that you get to recycle to save time.

I didn't plan on reusing them, but I wanted to use them as a template. Oh well I'll have to do them from scratch
