Is it bad when a program (who is already masters), does not get accreditation for the doctorate program the first time they get reviewed? How many times typically does it take for a program to pass the review board?

Should this really be a question? I mean... if the program was good, then they should've been approved...

I have no clue on how accreditation works though...

Well, the program is a good program, I thought. They had a lot of research going on, so I was quite surprised to hear that they were not accredited the first time they were reviewed. Its WSSU

Yeah.. it was a big stink. What happened is they got approval from the board of governors, but the southeast commission of colleges rejected the initial movement b/c the university itself never had a doctorate program. They had to add on more faculty and more facilities to prove that the University itself had the ability to support doctorate level classes. If this had been at any other university the process would have gone straight through, unfortunately more of a swipe at the University than the PT department itself...

There's always the logistics. I work in a college department right now and the amount of things that they have to "justify" is insane; even if they want to re-do one course they have to submit the entire proposal including if they have appropriate faculty, etc.
