Hey guys, google is failing me right now and i know y'all are like walking textbooks and whatnot.
What's the basis for the acetic acid test for picking up condyloma?

Acetic acid dissolves mucus and accentuates atypical epithelium during colposcopy. The utility of acetic acid, I believe, was discovered by accident. How that gynecologist even thought up of such an idea is unbeknownst to me.
