I just got back from this years ACFAS conference. It was a definite learning experience.

1) It was weird being around these big names in the industry. You are sitting there listening to George Guman, and it hits you, I own a book written by this guy.

2) There are a difference between the training across the ages. I went to the lectures and it was similar to being in class. Then some of the older pods were amazed by the information, to me it was the basics of podiatry.

3) I was also not super impressed with all of the research and abstract. Some of them were awesome, others were dismal.

4) Congrats to the students at AZPod, TUSPM, and NYCPM on there winning posters.

Attending the ACFAS annual meeting is pretty cool experience. As you said, you get to interact or listen to some of the big wigs in our profession. However, there is some repeats of certain lectures from year to year. Unfortunately, I could not go to the seminar this year. I highly recommend the students or residents to at least attend one of the ACFAS annual meetings. For those part of the ACFAS Student Chapter, usually, there is some funds from ACFAS where a few a students from each school can attend the annual meeting for free.
