I am getting married before residency and my program is allowing me to take the ACLS (acute cardiac) and ATLS (acute trauma) courses elsewhere...

Has anyone taken the certification course before starting residency?
Could you please instruct me on how to go about signing up for both these programs, either in CA or NY?

Are these each 1-day courses?

thanks!

I am taking my ACLS course at my home medical school, prior to starting residency. It's free (i.e., paid for by the school) for med students that attend here.

I had to pay for a 200-300 page book that goes along with the course ($35)--and I'm supposed to read this cover-to-cover, I think, before the 2-day course (which is held all day over a Saturday and Sunday).

Why don't you contact your home medical school--either the administration office or the Emergency Department--to find out their schedule of ACLS courses?

I'm the same. All students at my school are required to take ACLS before graduation.

I wish my school gave us the option...they used to but then bureaucracy won again.
