hi people ,

i really dont know if this question belongs to this forum but this was the closest i could think of .
i am an undergratuate from india who will be completeing his mbbs ( equivalent to the us md ) in dec this year . i have been fascinated with emergency medicine , and want to do the acls and pcls courses . could someone tell me the :
1 . minimum qualifications .
2 . approx. cost involved .
3 . the kind of certification i will recieve after the course .

also , though this is an even further cry , does someone know of any place in india where this course is conducted .

thanks .

Both usually require BLS (Basic Life Support) as prerequisite courses. Prices will vary but generally the cost for the ACLS course (full course, not renewal) is around $175-200 USD for the public (ie, your residency program isn't paying for it).

I don't know the cost for PALS but would assume it to be around the same.

If you are anticipating doing a residency in the US, I would wait to do these courses because they are usually paid for by your residency program. In addition, taking them now just means your certification expires that much earlier.

If staying in India for training, then the above doesn't really matter - I don't know of any testing centers in the country.
