Since I am just getting the info on medical school and the processes, I don't know many of the acronyms that people use for tests, schools, services, etc. I'm creating this topic in hope that people will add to the very short list I have here. Thanks!! 😀

So I'm in my mid 30's and think I'm pretty intelligent. I've figured out all of the acronyms used on SDN EXCEPT LOL. The best I could come up with is Lots of Love but that doesn't quite fit all the threads I see it used on.

Can you guys help me form a list of commoly used acronyms on SDN so us old folks can "get wit the program"!

When I first started coming here, i couldn't figure out what a URM was. All i knew is that almost everyone seemed to hate them and they were blamed by many as the reason that they weren't accepted to med school. I was convinced they were evil although as much as I tried I just couldn't figure out anything snazzy that URM could stand for.....maybe urban racist men, or unitelligent rural meanies, or unhealthy rich mysogynists..... the list goes on and i could understand why these were hated entities. Imagine my surprise when it dawned on me that they were only Under Represented Minorities, all this fear i had building up in me about them taking over all the med schools quickly subsided. oh well.

I was also thoroughly confused on what "bump" stood for. I tell you it was a proud day in the Moskeeto household when that code was cracked.

see, i suck at acronyms, i could never figure out anything that clever. but incase anyone isn't quick enough to catch that, people just type bump to bring a post to the top of the bbs since the posts with newest replies are towards the top. you could type anything, but it seems bump is the top choice. it always reminds me of volleyball, thats how lame i am.

as far as your schools, just by looking at your choices and not knowing anything about you or where you live I'd have to go with Wash U.
