Has anyone used the ACS study guides (general chemistry and/or organic chemistry) to prepare for the DAT and how did it help and compare to other studying materials? I'm particularly interested in the organic chemistry and how it compares to the destroyer (can't afford that unfortunately). Thanks in advance!! 😀 If there was another thread on this I apologize (please forward me to it)!

A lot of people like it but I thought it's way in depth (questions are REALLY tough, no joke!) for both of the science section. They only provide you with the explanation for about 1/3 of the questions, and the rest, only give you the answers. If you still don't get it, you can either move on or find a tutor. Some of their explanation aren't great and they're superficial. If all you have is time, I rather study my textbook (questions are about the same level) cuz it has pictures and detail explanations. My DAT is coming up in a month and I certainly don't have that kinda of time. If you understand destroyer front to back, inside out, outside in, you should be able to get a 19 at least. What are you aiming for?

I would be happy with 19s at least although I am trying to aim for higher (always shoot for the stars 🙂), planning to take the exam in mid-August, and I don't have the destroyer (was hoping for another option).

Did you go through the books entirely or just a little and then realized it's too in depth? If you did go through them I'd like to know how long it took. Thanks for the reply!

I went though half of the books for both GC and OC and decided to stick with destroyer. Some say destroyer is WAY harder than the actually deal, IMO, ACS is twice as tough, I figure I don't need to suffer anymore other than Kaplan and destroyer.
