Hi everyone! I'm working on my activities lists and I have a couple of questions.
1. I did lab research for 1 semester (my last semester) of college. I was supposed to do it for a year but I had to graduate early so I only did it for 6 months. It was 10 hours a week (more on breaks) and I mostly ran ELISAs, but once a week I would work individually with a participant as they completed the study (about 3 hours). Should I even list this? It was for such a short time and I don't have a rec letter from the PI because we only met once (I mostly worked with a PhD student who will be my contact).
2. I recently started a couple of volunteering positions. One is providing child care so that parents can attend a support group (2 hours a week) and the other is with hospice (1 hour a week). I don't think I should list these because I just started and I don't want to look like I added them on last minute just to beef up my ECs. Opinions on this? By the time I am interviewing I will probably have a lot to say about these experiences, but it seems a little suspicious to add these to the list when I will have fewer than 10 hours by the time I submit. Especially because most of my volunteering prior to this was as a peer counselor in college.
3. Would it be unnecessary to list that I'm singing in a community chorus now? I did a cappella in college so it was important for me to continue to have music in my life post-grad (and music is a big part of my PS), but I didn't know if this would just be a waste of a slot. Especially because I don't really have a lot to say about the experience for a description.
Thank you!!
