I haven't seen much about picking the test day and time on the forum.

I just selected my test date and time with Prometric. I basically gave myself about 5 1/2 weeks between the day I finish my last test for school (and taking that weekend off to recharge) and the day I take Step 1.

Plus they gave me the option of taking it at 8 or 12 noon. I took 12 noon because I'm not much of a morning person, and am prone to getting anxious the night before big tests and not falling asleep in time. I wasn't aware of the option to take the test at noon, but ran with it.

Anything wrong with the time period of study and actual test time? Any insight or others' date/time would be appreciated. Thanks.

no but thanks for the post. i didn't know you could take it later. surely i will try to do the same. how far in advance do you need to schedule once you get the nod from nbme?

Just be careful, b/c sometime the prometric system messes up. ie, I was scheduled for 9:30 initially, and the center closes at 5. Luckily I showed up early. They said if I had not started early, I would have to have lost 15min of my break time! So call to be sure!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I changed my test time to 8AM soon after making the post, something just felt odd and the people I talked to said take it in the morning and get it over with.

And to godchosenone, it's probably best to sign up for an exam date as soon as you get the nod from NBME because depending on how popular your preferred site is, the day you want the most might get filled up as it gets closer to to test time.

I scheduled mine for noon. I called them and they told me it was fine. They have alternating days of 8am-5pm or 8am-8pm. I am much more awake by 12pm. Heck, if I could start at 5pm, that would be perfect.

Im pretty sure Im taking the USMLE on my f'ing birthday. Why you ask? Because I have to take the CRAPLEX too.

Oh, man. I wish I had the noon option!! I'm so not a morning person. I didn't even know that there were different start times.

June 12 is my day. 9am. ~4 weeks of study time.

Why wouldn't you? Maybe it depends on the number of Prometrics centers in your town/city. My exam is at 12pm on June 12. You can change it if you want.

Why wouldn't you?

Because I never saw anything when scheduling online stating that there were start times other then 9am. I guess I just assumed that the centers are only open until 5 or 6 because I never saw otherwise.
