Which of the following represents the distance between (8, -2) and (5,3) in the standard coordinate plane.

Soooo I keep getting square root of 34 as the answer, which is D. Answer key says C.

(8-5)Squared = 9
(-2-3)Squared = 25

25 + 9 = 34

SQRT34 = SQRT34

what am I doing wrong?

I don't think you're wrong at all.
sqrt34 is the right answer.

It might be a test error!

maybe your answer key is wrong, because on my answer key its D sqrt 34 which is the same answer I got. there should be a thread about all the supposedly wrong answers on the 2009 test so that way people dont automatically assume they scored lower or higher on the test.
