hey guys,
I am scheduled to take the DAT JAN 14. just a couple of days before the blackout days (16/1/08 to 29/1/08) where ADA does some maintenance for the DAT. Some people have mentioned that they apparently change exam questions and versions, quit different from the current ones, for the next cycle. I am wondering what you guys think if I should push my DAT date further or not. Its a retake for me.

Any advice? I think its a 50/50 chance the test mightget even harder or not.

If I was you I would just take it, because you never know it might get tougher especially with all the high scores that i've seen people get. But like you said its 50/50, and its just a theory. Im taking mine after the black out and only because I need the time to study.

Sehrmoon,I exactly had the same Q.I will take my exam 2 days before you on 12.I was wonder at this point how ready are you.Have you gone over topscore and all that, how do you do?
I'm not very confident about it,and pretty much scared.I was wonder how is you feeling.

I would think the test would become harder after the blackout date. They're probably going to change up the test and the people who take it right after will be the guinea pigs. This is just speculation though. I'm taking it after the blackout.

may I ask when your taking the test? i'll be taking it in the second week of feb, and I havent taken the DAT's before so I cant really tell people if it became harder or not. Hopefully someone will be able to tell us.

I'm not taking it before then. Even if I was, I doubt anything I could say would be helpful. Just keep your nose to grindstone and do the best you can.

Yeah I wish we could see a historical DAT score breakdown by month just for reference.

I am retaking the DAT and am trying to decide what to do too. Pretty much the soonest I could take it would be the 15th, I was planning on the 21st, but now it looks like it will have to be on the 15th or push back to February which may just push it too far out for this 2008 cycle.

I did just OK in the sciences but got killed on QR and RC this last DAT in Oct. That justice passage and QR section were pretty brutal for me. I scored well below all my previous Achiever/Kaplan/Top Score tests in those sections. I am dead in the water if they make them more difficult in Feb.

I must say though, the QR and RC scores from this small sample size here on SDN from late summer through Oct. when I took the DAT seemed to be pretty consistently lower than normal. At least compared to the past two years that I have followed this forum. I know it is not scientific or anything but I don't think I have ever seen so many low QR and RC scores, especially from people who did significantly better in those two sections on previous DATs.

Anyway good luck all who are hoping for a good retake score.

FYI, my first DAT scores in Oct. were:
AA 17
TS 18
Bio 19
GChm 19
OChm 17
RC 16
QR 12
PAT 16

True, I just wanted to get peoples reactions on the test, like altimeter88 said the QR and RC sections might have been tough this cycle, so it would be interesting to see other peoples reactions to the different portions of the test.

i'm taking it on 15th. i really hope it is easier than after the blackout period.😛
