Hey All,

I'm thinking about adding more programs. I originally applied to 39 programs and so far have heard back from 12 - 5 interviews, 1 waitlist, and 6 rejections (reaches). It's still relatively early in the season but I'm guessing most places have all of their interview spots filled already.

Is it worth applying or will I just be throwing money into the wind?

Reach out to those programs that you have not yet heard back from. Express to them your continued interest and tell them that you would be ecstatic to interview there and will gladly take any available interview spot. Make sure to email the residency program coordinator, I nabbed two interviews late in the season and two places high on my potential rank list.

Then throw some money down the drain by applying to more programs, but preferably ones that you would have a solid shot at matching at. If you don't hear back from them, repeat step one around January, when people start to cancel interviews.

One of the cardiac fellows at my program is a DO that trained at Tufts. He's awesome. Hang in there!

Quick update: neuroticism was unnecessary. I'm sitting at 10 interviews right now and feel pretty good about a few of them.
