Will there be any time during the application process when a school will contact us through snail mail? On AMCAS I put my home address for both preferred and permanent address, but I will be at my college apartment starting in late September. Should I leave it as it is? Change it? Or can I update my preferred address later?

Some schools use snail mail... i.e. Loyola and Dartmouth... for everything, while some just use it to send rejection letters. I'm pretty sure you can change your preferred address whenever (someone correct me if I'm wrong) because I changed mine at the beginning of summer when I came back home and the school I was holding an acceptance at began sending packets to my house instead of at school.

Yeah, you can change your address on AMCAS when you move, and all your paper correspondences with med schools will be redirected to your new address.

It does bug me that some schools still use paper (Loyola, I'm looking at you!). Some only require a real signature, so you just mail in a signature page or something. It just makes it so much easier to do everything online.

But yes, all those delicious rejections come in the mail too.

Do you know how long it takes for them to update your address?
