I am just wondering if its worth mentioning in the work/activities section for things that were cut off due to Covid that they were cut off? I feel that this may be a waste of the precious character count that we are given for those sections. I know that most/many schools have a Covid secondary essay where we can describe these sorts of interruptions, but I feel that it may come across as odd in the initial first read of our application if an activity abruptly ends. Although, I suppose adcoms are expecting this now that this will be the second cycle of covid applicants. Just want some opinions on how this should be addressed in the primary, if at all.

I applied last cycle so some of my activities were cut off short. I either wrote something about how my role changed (ie helping make calls instead of going in person) or just wrote something like “I hope to continue this later this year pending COVID.” Its sort of assumed that everything changed during COVID but if you want to explain why you can in a very concise way.

Hi there! Remember that the purpose of the work and activities section is to showcase your skills through the description of each activity. If you feel it is absolutely essential to mention that the activity was cut off due to COVID-19, you can go ahead and do so. However, think that the most important aspect of this document is to show progression and commitment in each one of your activities and those essential qualities you developed or refined while engaged in them, so be sure to do lots of reflection on this. Additionally, the character count is limited, so you need to be strategic about the information you want to share and use this limit wisely. You could say that due to the pandemic, your role changed into X or Y, but remember to always show some progression or positive change in spite of difficult times.
