Hello everyone! I have a great GPA and have taken a majority of the prerequisite courses. The only courses i have not taken are anatomy and physiology. A majority of schools do not require them but some do. If i am solid in DAT and have a solid GPA, will schools instantly reject me if i do not have 1 prerequisite lets say anatomy?

yes if they tequire it. Common sense........

It's a requirement. Either take it like everyone else or don't apply to the schools that require it.

Well you don't need to have the prerequisites completed when you apply, they just need to be finished sometime before you matriculate into dental school. So worry about applying and getting an acceptance in your hand first...then if the school you decide on requires anatomy, take it next spring.

It is very true. For instance, I will apply ASDOH without taking a&p class.

I have been wondering how the schools will know that you intend on completing the prereq before matriculation?

For example, if one applies in June, and plans on taking the prereq in the winter term, the school would have no knowledge of the intent because it would not even be on the transcript as "in progress". So would they not simply disregard the application?

There's a section on AADSAS to list planned courses, where you could list the prerequisites you're planning to take. And dental schools only hand out acceptances under the assumption that prerequisites and other necessary obligations will be met prior to matriculation anyway...

They know that you will take it because if you don't, then they will revoke your acceptance.

To the first two posters: I don't know if your just trying to scare him off by telling him he should not apply without them or not. What they said is pretty much false. Just make sure you have your chem, physics, bio done.

hey guy,

the poster wasnt clear about what they were talking about. from what the OP said, i thought they were asking whether a good resume would allow them to skip one of the pre-reqs, which last i checked, was pretty much not true. you and the subsequent folks assumed that OP was asking if it was okay to apply without taking a pre req.

i still think it sounds like they were asking if a good gpa excuses a pre req, but to each his own. maybe OP can clarify

I really wouldn't stress physics too much. I know that a lot of predents dont take it until their senior year. Like myself!
