Anyone else have a bone to pick with the chuckleheads in Tufts Admissions Office? B/c I sure do...

I've read nothing but glowing comments on the school and while I realize the admission office is a separate entity, those who work there have conducted themselves without any semblance of organization or professionalism.

I applied to the school in August. Up until last month, I didn't hear anything from them. This is because they are the only school (at least I know of), that don't permit you to talk to anyone over the phone in regards to your application.

Turns out they lost my LOR's. Even though i asked them for months if my application was OK, they waited until Feb, to tell me otherwise. This little screw up delayed the review of my application FOR MONTHS! They didn't even bother to offer an apology. Apparently it was my fault, even though every other school I applied to received my LORs from AADSAS.

Another month goes by, still don't hear anything from them. I left a voice mail to inquire what was going on with my app... and I get a rejection email saying that the class is already full.

Fortunately I've been accepted elsewhere, and don't have to deal with their incompetence for four more years... anyone else out there with a similar experience?

Are you sure of this or is this something you assumed? I called them last fall and they told me my LOR's were received. The only thing they won't tell you is whether or not you are getting an interview/accepted. Aside from the line being busy now and then, they've always been pretty helpful.

I totally agree with docious! I feel like applying to tufts was the biggest waste of money ever! I applied and waited and waited. THe only time I received ANYTHING from them was when they asked for the processing fee. From that point on I was never contacted or able to contact them. I called several times and wrote couple emails to check my status. I never got a hold of ANYONE. Frankly, I feel like they truly ripped me off and made money off of me. If I could do it all over again, I would not even apply to this school as their application system is obviously very skewed. I still got other acceptances though so it doesnt matter. I just feel cheated by them!

hey guys,
I'm sorry to hear about your bad experiences! I too don't like their "don't contact us" policy. I e-mailed them anyway to ask about my file and I received an interview a few days later. It was a risk I took to e-mail them but I had already been accepted to several schools already (so I didn't care that much). I think they should change their policy about not letting people check their status. It makes people very mad :meanie:

Do u mind if I ask your stats?

I never heard from them when I applied last year, other than the intial letter saying that they received my application. Other than that, no acceptance, no rejection. I had been accepted to BU in December, so it didn't really matter too much...would have been nice to hear something though, since I did have to fork out some money to apply.

I talked to the admission office the other day. They informed me that they start rejecting people only after they fill up their class.

GPA is 3.3
My overall DAT was 20

Not a lock, but people have definitely gotten in there with less.

And yes, I"m absolutely sure THEY lost my LOR's. All the other schools I applied to got my materials from AADSAS... Tufts was the only exception. They also sent me a rejection email. I mean, for all the time and money I invested in them, the least they could've done was sent me a letter... pretty classless on their part.

Anyway, I'll still be going to dental school next year, so in the end, I"m not too upset.

..onward and upward

Weird... Tufts got all my LORS, but none of the other schools got them. I totally blame AADSAS. 😛

I wouldn't blame tufts, blame AADSAS, two places didn't get mine..Arizona and Pitt. No one else has said anything to the contrary, so I'm assuming they got 'em. But you're right, the do not contact policy isn't very welcoming.

Docious-You got a rejection email?!

Thats is correct... a rejection email, from an adcom flak.

What do you think, do I reject the rejection email (as mentioned in a previous thread), or do I write a letter to the dean to make him aware of how his department is being run?

Rejecting the rejection letter would be hilarious...specially if you said that you are going to BU.

Yes, absolutely let the Dean know. I don't care how many applications they get this year, it is absolutely preposterous and unprofessional to make people wait for months and months, threaten them not to contact your office, the "DON'T CALL US WE'LL CALL YOU" tactic and never call us back to let us know if they are missing anything 😕 . Espcially since after they took our hard-earned money. I thought that $60 fee was for them to at least look at our application and let us know if they need additional info. Yes, I too have issues with how the Tufts adcom is run and I am glad to not be the only who feel this way. I will applaud you if you contact the dean at Tufts and let him know.

Glad I have a backer Martinelli... think I would be better off sending an email, or writing a letter?

I think an email should be fine b/c they might lose your letter if you send it via mail  But if you want to ensure that the Dean does receive it, then why not send both? I am waiting until this cycle ends and will send him one too--I'm sure he is a nice guy and all but he should know how dysfunctional his admission office is.

exactly... I'm not saying it's the deans fault, nor am I asking for special consideration. Just letting him know that the *****s in his office and sullying the reputation of his otherwise fine institution.
