Hello,

I had a quick question about admissions requirements for many schools. On the websites for a lot of the schools I see the following:

2. Completion of the following with a grade of C (2.0) or higher:
8 semester hours of Biological Science with laboratory (includes biology, embryology, genetics, microbiology, physiology, etc.)

If you have taken more than 8 semester hours of Biological Science courses, do you get to pick which 8 semester hours you apply as part of your "Pre-Req" courses. For example, say you have taken 12 semester hours but in a 4 unit class you received a grade of C- but in the rest of the courses you have received an A. Will you be able to apply whichever 8 semester hours for the requirement?

Please let me know.

My understanding of this is that your pre-req will be considered the most "elementary" of the classes you've taken. i.e. If you've done 8 semester hours in both biology and microbiology, the biology would be considered more elementary, so that would be your pre-req. I could be wrong. Also, keep in mind it will look bad regardless to have a low grade in an upper level biological science.

I see, that makes sense. Can anyone else confirm this?

On the app, i remember selecting the courses I wanted to apply to the pre-reqs for each school. I could be wrong it was last July

Yes you can.

Quick high jack question, would you all suggest picking a class with a higher grade to comply with the prereqs? Compared to just picking the most elementary?
Such as using bio 2 4.0 & microbio 4.0 instead of bio 1 2.5 & bio 2 4.0.
Or am I over thinking this and it doesn't matter?
