Hello,
I am new to this site, and i apologize in advance if this question already had been asked. I am an RN with associate, and in the process of applying for RN to BSN program. However, my goal is to become a doctor (i was in medical school in Russia, where procedures for admission are much easier, however life got into place, and i had to drop out and move to US, where i became a nurse first to make a living).
My question is how do i go about it? Do i get my bachelor in Nursing (which will be a bridge program), or should i apply for a different more traditional "pre-med" major (my guess it will take the same time, because of the pre-reqs i have to take after BSN ).
Please guys any advise will be greatly appreciated!

If you lack a BA/BS, then I believe the fastest and most efficient route would be to pursue a degree you are interested in that allows you take the medical school prerequisite courses. From what I know about a RN to BSN program, they are focused on nursing courses and may not allow you to take the courses you need to apply to medical school. If you went that route you would likely need extra time after your undergraduate work to complete prereqs.

The required prereqs will likely mean that some sort of interdisciplinary or premed degree will be faster than nursing. Take your transcript and a list of the prereqs to an advosor and ask them what degree gets you a diploma fastest

Yes, it's seems like a right choice. I just like to have a back-up plan, and consider as many options as possible (worst case scenario if i don't get into the medical school, in can still bridge to MSN with Bachelor in other than nursing field).

Thank you! 🙂

Maybe you can work it out with the BSN program, who knows?

I would suggest picking one path or the other. I can say from experience that trying to accomplish both at once will only lead to a lack of great success in anything.

Hi. I'm currently doing an RN-BSN program while taking medicine pre-reqs for a total of 14 credits. I came to this plan after numerous simulations on what would get me to a Bachelor's degree sooner without sacrificing As while working full-time. It's tough switching gears from nursing to science every couple of days but it's doable. The school/program doesn't really care what courses I'm taking on top of my nursing courses.
