i have a question! im from the DR i just got my nbde part 1 score n it was a disappointing 82... im already studying for my part 2 n working as a general odontologist in a clinic n hoping to apply this year for a 2012 program. Have a year and a few months working experience as a dentist, n b4 that worked as a oral n maxillofacial surgical assistant. Have 2 diplomates in aesthetics and endodontics and some volunteer work in dental operatives. Also worked in a research for Alzheimer's patients in 2010. GPA 3.5. Still to take TOEFL

Where would u suggest i apply for an advance standing program? i know 82 is not much of a score but id like to know which schools are my best chances...which ones are not so competitive?

Take part 2 .that will widen your chances. 82 is not bad since one cant retake the exam. also you have several things in your resume . so i am sure you wll get in . keep trying.

Its just that i've noticed how ppl with part 1 scores below 85 hardly even get an interview....im so stressed. Do u know which schools have allowed lower scores to their acceptance list recently?

you are having a good package for advanced standing program.
this year one student with nbde part 1 score of 82 got admission at upenn in the first list.so try to get good recomemndation letters.

I too recently just got my score, and got a very avg score of 77.
I thought the exam was much tougher then the past papers that i had been solving, i was consistently getting a much higher score in that, in avg a raw score of above 300. Has the exam gotten tougher from 2011?

I just wanted some advice as to what i should do now? my stats are 77/103/3.66

I have a 1 year working experience in general dentistry, and some research experience from an american dental school. The work was presented in ORCA'09 as well.

Do i opt for some more research work in states? or give my part 2? and what chances do i have if i just apply with these stats?

From my experience, you have a decent chance of getting in with ur experience. Of course a high score helps but good schools generally balance what you have been doing with ur time and urs is pretty impressive. Ur first port of call is to ensure u get interview calls so please try as much as possible to give them a great statement letter and try to get really positive letters of reference. Once you get into an interview and they see you are motivated and intelligent and pretty much what u said in ur statement lettter you have as much as a 75% chance of getting an admission. We put to much into our NBDE score which is really only one criteria in selection. So get going!
