Hey all, it's been a little while since I've poked around on the Path forum, but I was hoping to get some advice for 4th year. I'm starting to think Path might be my #1 choice, but I've got to figure out what kind of electives to schedule for this upcoming year. I'm a Temple student, if that helps anyone familar with the program, but currently I'm doing rotations at a community hospital in Pittsburgh so I don't have a whole lot of interaction with the main campus at Temple.

At our community hospital there is a general Path elective, but no residency, so I am thinking it might be better to go to main campus for a Path elective in the first or second block. But at Temple there are probably a half dozen options: surgical path, research elective, renal, cyto, heme, etc. Would it be best to just do surgical? Or would you recommend something else too? What do you think as far as away rotations? Thanks for any advice, 😀

I think you could get away with doing surg path or cyto or heme. Renal, eh, might not be the best introduction. Surg path is general and has a lot of variety, so you can find something you like. Probably best if you can to do an away rotation at a place you are interested in applying to, or failng that a place with a residency program so that you can get a reference letter that will be more relevant.
