Need some advice

Just graduated Saturday from undergrad!

cGPA: 3.48
sGPA: 3.28
MCAT: 22 (obviously retaking)

2+ years research experience at college and major hospital
200+ shadowing hours
Good letters of recommendation
Excellent ECs

Planning on getting a research assistant job for the year at a major university

Looking to do more shadowing with DO

Possibly looking into medical mission trips

Any advice? Am I right to think that just improving my MCAT will get me a Fall 2013 acceptance?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think retaking the MCAT and getting a minimum of 8+ in every section, and at least a 25+ overall, should get you an interview at a D.O. school w/ ur extracurriculars, etc. Just keep in mind D.O. schools are getting more competitive so shoot for a 28+ to be safe. If you're also interested in MD I'd recommend enrolling in a M.S. or post.bac. program to increase your GPA.

You obviously know that retaking the MCAT is a must, but as long as you apply "early" then you should be sitting alright. I think if you are wanting to apply to matriculate next year you need you get a move on with things (like the MCAT retake) so I suggest you figure out a time line. Also, contact the adcoms that rejected you this past cycle and see what red flags you have in your app (MCAT I am guessing).

Everything looks good except that MCAT. Shoot for 28 at a minimum, and you'll be fine.
