So I've applied to a bunch of American schools: ICO, Ferris State, SUNY, UMSL, SCO, HCO. I'm wondering if any Canadian students at any of these universities could share info on the costs of living and tuition, and is there any option for in-state tuition fees at any of these schools? I'm a Canadian citizen and don't know much about the residency rules for the states.. which schools would be most affordable for me?

Also, anyone with experience for Ferris State, are they very strict about their pre-requisite course requirements?
I've taken everything except inorganic chemistry, but applied anyways because it's the closest university from where I live.

If you guys have any info, please post 🙂

Thanks!

Any Optom school not in a major city. SUNY will cost you quite a bit on living unless you're fine with small space or you like a long commute. There's also no benefit in in-state tuition since your Canadian.

ICO has residences that are good for first year as they come with a meal plan, I'll leave it to ICO students to comment on the food there lol.

Just look at the tuition for all the schools and total them. Most schools should also post costs for living expenses or even a full breakdown. To be fair, add 3-5k on to those values. You should have a rough estimate on which is cheapest.

yea, ferris state is strict with their pre-req requirements. you can try and email coleen about the which courses fit into their anat or language(?) requirement but they do require them all.

Thanks so much everyone. I got called for an interview at Ferris state. @physicslover - I am missing inorganic chemistry, since I got asked for an interview though, do you think they'll bypass the fact that I'm missing this course? Also, any suggestions on the interview process?

Doesn't the general chemistry series fulfill the requirement of inorganic chemistry?

Yeah, this is true. I checked the actual courses, and they're just first year chemistries, so I'm good. Thanks! 🙂
