Hi guys,

Looking for some advice, if you don't mind!

I took the DAT last summer and scored an AA of 20 and PAT of 17. I find this score pretty mediocre (which would just go along with my own mediocre GPA), so I'd like to retake the DAT again for the second time.

Previously, I used the infamous DAT 8 week study schedule (Chad's vids, Kaplan Blue Book, Crack the PAT, Destroyer, Cliff's... the works).

I can't seem to find any posts about how to go about studying for the second time, so do you all mind chipping in some advice?

The only thing I can think of doing is redoing this entire 8 week study schedule, but concentrate more on my weaknesses. Other than that, it's hard to pinpoint where my study approach went wrong.

Y'all are wonderful, thank you kindly!

It really depends on how much you've forgotten. If you still have a solid grasp of the material, you can gloss over old concepts to reinforce them while focusing on things you had trouble with. If you find that you've forgotten most of it, you'll probably want to follow the 8 week schedule. Also, don't be afraid to extend your study time past 8 weeks. An additional week covering all your bases could make a huge difference in the end. For PAT, I'd throw in Achiever, people have been suggesting its much more accurate than CDP currently.

As a side note, an AA of 20 isn't mediocre at all. As per the most recent set of data, the average for all DS students is 19.8. In other words, you scored higher than half the students who got accepted to dental school.

Hi Shazzam,

Thanks for your kind reply! It gives me new insight, although I haven't quite made my mind about retaking or not.
