Hey guys,

So I'm 5 weeks away from Step 1, and I still have 1 more week of school before 1 month dedicated time off. It's been hard to fit in any board studying or qbank time during school, so I'm wondering what's the best thing to do given that I only have 1 month to study for this test.

So far, I've been using FA and Goljan along with classes, and only started doing Kaplan Qbank questions a few weeks ago. I'm thinking of scrapping the Kaplan questions and just doing Uworld for the 1 month study period.

Basically, I'm planning to do 50 UW questions in the morning, have lunch, then read FA+Goljan for a few hours, then do another 50 UW questions in the evening. Do you think it is feasible to finish the Uworld Qbank in 1 month if I stick to this plan? I'm not sure how many questions UW has, but I'm assuming 100 Q's per day x 20 days or so = 2000 questions finished?

Also, anyone else have a 1 month plan for Step 1 that you'd like to share? Thanks in advance for any advice.

That sounds like your best bet. However, much of your scheduling and timing will depend on how long it takes you to review a block of questions. For some people it's 2.5 hours, for others it's 5-6. It's really important to try and find that balance between getting the most out of reviewing the blocks without spending half of the day on 1 block.

Ya, if you stick to your schedule and manage to get through FA, RR, UWorld, you should be in good shape.

Thanks guys. I'm just hopeful for at least a 230, and I always freak out when I hear about my classmates and other people who are already putting in tons of hours while school is still going on.

I've used Kaplan Qbank occasionally on tutor mode, and honestly, I don't find it very helpful. Maybe it's because I haven't really started dedicated study time yet, but it just feels like there are a lot of random facts and details.

I can't wait to be done with classes soon. Hoping for the best :xf:

If you can't get through UW in the study period you have, throw out Kaplan, it's not going to help you. It's a great Qbank for doing extra practice questions but it's not as good or as essential as teaching many of the concepts as UW is. I barely managed to finish both with a week to go (finished UW earlier) and I took 6 weeks.

I agree with this. Kaplan is good, but a distant #2 to world. Do UWorld and if you finish it faster than expected then go back to kaplan

i have been using the taus 2 week schedule + 3final day schedule as my 4 week study schedule with some modifications like adding 4 days for CMMRS and another 2 days for neuro.so far its been ok.. under a week left. ive only gotten through about 40% of uworld tho 🙁 will try to do more during the next few days now that i have read most of RR and will probably not read the remainder... kidney chp and the heme chps 11-15 but i read those during the last few weeks of school as we finished with heme/onc

UWorld has a little under 2100 questions, so yes, you could theoretically do what you just said. But I'll +1 what was already said about the time requirement -- people use question banks in different ways, and take different amounts of time to do it.

Agree with scrapping Kaplan. Fewer sources = better as long as they're high-yield, which FA+RR+UW are. Especially with focusing on UW over Kaplan.
