I currently need advice on whether or not I should retake my DAT.

This past 2013 cycle I applied to only Texas schools and was not accepted, which I credit to my below average GPA of a 3.303 (recently graduated with a BS in Biochem). Currently I'm on the alternate list for all three Texas schools and I'm about to submit my 2014 application. I have added numerous OOS schools to my application including a few private schools for this cycle. I am currently going to seek a masters thesis and hope everything works out this next cycle. On my previous DAT (which I took my sophomore summer of my BS) I scored a 20AA/20TS/23OC/19GC/19Bio/19RC/18QR/21PAT. I'm debating on whether or not I should retake the DAT for a 22AA/22TS/23PAT.

Do you guys think I should retake this summer or wait it out and see what happens with the OOS schools this year?

Thanks for your time!!

If you can smash it with 4-6 weeks of study I don't know why not. Those are already good enough scores but that GPA sure isn't helping.

Do you feel that you CAN get those scores? If so, then I highly suggest you go for it. Because given your semi-mediocre GPA, it can be a big help if you can raise AA/TS to 22+

I wouldn't. I had a similar gpa and DAT score, I applied late last cycle and still got in. State schools are SUPER competitive, but applying early and to OOS and private should give you a great shot

Thanks for the input everyone!! Gosh its such a hard decision. I know I could do better, I mean like I said I took my DAT the sophomore summer of my BS. Thus, I taught myself human physiology, statistics and a few other topics because I had not took those courses yet. I just have other stuff going on and donating an month + of my summer for a DAT increase is not exactly what I want to do. Although, I feel like if I cranked my score up to just a little bit more my chances would increase dramatically and it shows that Im constantly trying to improve my stats.

Urgghhh decisions... decisions...

Did you get interviews from any schools?

Did you shadow enough ?

Did you volunteer a lot ?

Yes, I am an alternate at all three Texas schools. I have plenty of shadowing and volunteer work, I also created two organizations at my school. One of which was PDSA.
