Advice for sad first year short on thyroxine?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Look, you're obviously very bright but I understand your situation can feel like competing in a marathon with ankle weights.

My research focuses on T3 and T4 -- have you tried high dose iodine and selenium supplementation? Also, celiac disease can sometimes only present symptomatically in the thyroid -- have you tried eliminating gluten from your diet and increasing your intake of MCTs? Some dietary experimentation may help your case.

In the interim, just focus on the fact that you are where you are. Very few people on earth have the mental capacity to even be accepted to medical school and that places you in very selective company. I'm sure you are leaps and bounds ahead of most of your high school and undergraduate peers. Act with confidence, and study with confidence. When your perspective on the situation changes so will your performance.

Please avoid giving specific medical advice or suggestions. Anonymous internet forums are seldom the appropriate forums. It is also against SDN's Terms of Service.

You are allowed, and encouraged, to discuss on strategies to survive, and cope with medical school, especially in a challenging environment.

Goodness that might be the ticket! My dad's sister has celiac and weirdly enough it took so long to figure out my thyroid because once my appetite got bad, I was drastically losing weight. And I was vit D deficient, and no one has been able to figure out while I bruise so easily and it takes forever to heal (vitamin K deficient?). And even though the constipation cleared up on synthroid, I've still been a bit nauseous and bloated and gassy (probably TMI, but I felt like you should know you're probably dead on!!!) I will take a break from gluten for a week or two and if I feel better I will see about getting the blood test at my next doctor's appointment!
