This is mainly targeted to anyone currently applying and/or has applied before. I'm thinking about beginning drafting secondaries for a few of the schools that have released them online while my AMCAS app is being reviewed/verified. I was just a wondering if anyone had some old secondary submission statments lying around (and/or in the process of writing) so I could look over them and get an idea of what I should be writing. Or, alternatively, some tips from you experienced applicants. I'm trying not to sound overly generic in each one, and I've been structuring it around the formula: (1) describing what I want to do with medicine (2) pointing out the unique aspects of that school that fall in line with those goals (3) talking about why I'm applying geographically (i.e. why I'd like to live in that city).

What else should you talk about? How much from your personal statement/activities list should be repeated?

Thanks guy. Any examples would be great if you have them.

oh yeah... there's a lengthy list of last year's prompts (and the year before...). Just dig around a bit.. its probably under the sticky for our app cycle.

Are you saying you want people to send you the prompts or their actual responses? The former can be found in the sticky at the top of this forum, and the latter is just shady.

Oh, he isn't asking for these from everybody; just from people who got admitted...:smack:

Oh hey, no it wasn't meant to be shady. Just wanted some general tips on the style of a secondary essay. I checked out the ExamKrackers website when I was starting my personal statement (and the 12 example essays) just to get an idea of what sort of things people write about in a personal statement....which was pretty much any format you want as long as you get your point across. It helped me a lot to get started with it. Was hoping to get a similar idea of what a secondary essay is like -- definitely not looking to mimic anyone, I drum to my own beat. Is it more straightforward (point A followed by B&C), or can it be written more informally...such as a story (or a series of stories). Just gauging for some general tips.
