Hello everyone I just got accepted to OU-HCOM and was seeing if I can get some advice on what to do and how to prepare for medical school. For some personal reasons I know this is the school that I will be attending (If I put them here I'll be doxxed pretty). Any advice is appreciated and I'm glad I'm a part of the medical students forum now!

Btw I read the 2019 guide to med school by Goro and learned a lot from that already!

Depends. Are you still in undergrad?

Congratulations! Acceptance is a big accomplishment, and you should be proud.

If you have the financial means, spend the next few months enjoying yourself as much as possible. Travel, see old friends, etc.

If you’re broke, find some cheap ways to enjoy yourself. Maybe get a job (or put in a few more hours) and save up for a road trip (or something along those lines).

Don’t bother pre-studying. If you want to do something that will help your future self - just learn to use Anki.

Thanks I'll look into anki. Road trip sounds fun I definitely want to see the ocean again before I start medical school.

Exercise routine, work on creating a meal plan, check out where you are moving for medical school, apartment hunting, travel as much as possible, watch as many movies as possible.

Honestly you're not gonna have this much time again until spring of OMS4. Please take advantage of it and don't feel guilty about it because its gonna be the best thing you can do for yourself.

I will second the exercise routine. Most schools have the guys take off their shirts for OMM, I was one of the few who wasn't shy about it.

Step 2 average will be around 250 by the time you grauduate due to Step 1 being p/f. Average at my school currently is 245. The rat race is still on and it is real, so.......
When should I start studying for comlex and step? It seems like it's good to take both based on what I've researched.

What do you guys think of the physical medicine and rehabilitation specialty?
