Hello everyone, I've been lurking here for a little while I would like some advice.
I'm a 28 year old female in my final semester for my associate's in nursing. I'm in a point in my life where medical school is now feasible. Before this, my father was terminally ill and I was pregnant with my first child, so I couldn't make the switch and devote the time I would have to. Anyway, my family and I will be moving in January to a larger city, near a university that I can go to to begin taking pre-med courses.
I have two options that I have been going back and forth on:
1) Finish my BSN while also taking pre-med courses.
- I would only take the science classes required, or else I'd have to do a post-bacc program.
- If I don't make it into med school, I would already have my BSN to transition back into nursing. (My state doesn't require BSN, but is making a push towards nurses having it)
- It would take me 2 years to complete.
OR
2) Transfer over to 4 year uni, major in molecular micro (I'm very interested in this subject and wouldn't mind using this degree in some aspect if I don't get into Med school)
- Approximately 3 years to complete
- A better grasp on science concepts
- More opportunities to get LORs
- More research opportunities because of larger number of science classes
Any advice would be appreciated.
