Hi guys!!

First off congratulations to all those that read this and have been accepted!
I know it is still early in the cycle but I wanted to reach out and see ways to possibly improve my application. I haven't heard from any schools I have applied to. So I am beginning to worry and I want to prepare myself for the worst situation. Below are my stats and extracurriculars. Any advice would be helpful!

-AA 19/ BIO 17/ GC 19/ OC 20/ RC 21/ PAT 20/ QR 20
-500+ hours of community service (within both organizations I head a leadership position)
-Research in Electrochemistry
-5 LOR and 1 committee letter
-Currently taking A&P 1 to show them my biology score isn't accurate and A&P 2 next semester
-3.58 oGPA 3.53 sGPA (which will change after A&P is factored in)
-Chemistry major/ General Business Minor
-Graduated Alabama- Cum Laude
-Currently work for an Orthodontist as a dental assistant
-100+ hours of shadowing general dentists
-Interviewing for Scribe America (they have a dentist I will work with)
-Participated in Gateway to Dentistry @ Rutgers
Applied to: BU, Tufts, Stony Brook, Rutgers, NYU, Buffalo, Touro, Maryland, Meharry, Temple

Thanks Guys!

Let me start off by saying your stats are most impressive! Your community service hours stick out and your GPA consistency look great as well! A & P certainly would help you, both in doing well to raise both GPA's and in showing your comprehension of human anatomy (implying you did well in the course).

As you mentioned, your biology score could be improved. Your other section scores are certainly competitive enough to apply. Hell, I got a 16 in OC and scored an interview. I don't mean to say this as a way of bragging, but as words of encouragement! Attempting to retake the DAT to improve biology seems a bit trivial to me. My opinion only (others on here may disagree).

There are a plethora of factors schools consider. Another aspect on your application is your personal statement. If you'd feel comfortable doing so, you're more than welcome to send me a copy of your statement and I could look over it and provide some peer review.

Other than that, yes, you can increase your GPA, DAT scores, shadowing/work/volunteer hours, but at the end of the day your application is nothing less of competitive!

Best of luck to you 😉

Why do applicants such as this individual not gain acceptance? Great applicant overall is this process random?

Do you think applicants should be chosen based off of statistics, or their personalities? We aren't training to become robots, but healthcare providers. The system isn't random.

That being said, OP when did you apply this cycle?

My application was submitted and mailed by August 18th!

Honestly that's not that late. Did you have anyome review your letters? I'm wondering if maybe you said something that put them off.

My LOR were all handed into the pre health committee at my school and from those letters and an interview the committee wrote a LORfor me in addition to the 5 that were handed in. I never got to see them I had to waive my rights. All my letters were in when I submitted my application.

Sorry I meant your personal statement!

For the tmdsas we write three essays in lieu of a personal statement, I forgot y'all don't do that, that's what I meant by letters!

Actually I don't believe in stats 100% personaloty and motivatin are big OP looks like a well rounded individual and dedication towards the field based on EC, on paper I would take this applicant.
