I recently just finished Step 2 CS. I forgot to write down vital signs on my note on just about all of my patients. I don't know what I was thinking, but all of my patients had normal vital signs and I was pressed for time. Do you guys think I should just schedule the test again ASAP so I may be able to get a date before residency begins?

Are you rich and can afford to potentially spend $1,000 and not be concerned if you find out its a waste of money?

I failed CS once already, so take it from me: putting vitals down has almost nothing to do with passing. If thats the only thing you did wrong, then you will easily pass.

Wait till the scores come back. You probably passed. Will you be able to schedule again before residency? You can if you do it right now, but if you wait till the scores get back, then no it will be too late.

Most testing centers have the earliest testing dates in mid April, and the EARLIEST score report date for that block is June 18th.

I have this vague memory of being told by someone at some time that it wasn't necessary to record vitals if they were normal. I don't remember if it was from some sort of official source or not.

for vitals i just did what i saw in first aid, ie if they were normal id just write "vitals - WNL". if the pt was really hypertensive or something id say "vitals - BP of 160/90 noted, otherwise WNL". you didnt need to write them all out, dont worry.

i wouldnt shell out the extra $1k before i got my score. one of my friends was checking their site like crazy last week and found a date on Tuesday and flew to Atlanta for a friday exam just a couple of days later. so its not like finding a date is impossible even now, id totally keep my grand in the pocket. also, remember that you have a 96% chance of having passed if you are a US grad. good luck!

I had the same concern about not passing and called the NBME today. They say you CANNOT reschedule to take cs again until your first score is reported. So, you would not be able to reschedule until March 26th at the earliest. Have a beer, save your $1000 for now, and hope for the best. It's all you can do.
