I need to get back into medical school after having left in my second year, due to life issues.
I have since taken care of these but herein lies the problem.
I was in a private medical school which is very expensive.
I wish to continue and finish my training at any medical school in Texas where tuition is a bit less, among other things. The problem is that none of the schools I have contacted thus far will accept me.
What options do I have now with respect to completing my medical education
?
Should I go back to the private school with the hefty price tag and then try to apply to other schools after my Step 1 exams??

Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks
PS.. I am currently getting my MPH.

Transferring med schools is a difficult process. It's not like college where you can apply and transfer fairly easily. While it can be done, most people who are successful have very good reasons for doing so; if you are doing it purely for financial reasons I doubt schools will seriously consider you given that this is a ubiquitous issue for med students. Some schools won't accept transfer students. Other schools may not even consider someone who's been out of the classroom for a while, especially if your reasons for leaving were academic-related. Also, the process takes a while, so if you are looking at going back this fall, you're too late. The question of transferring comes up often on SDN; try doing a search.

Thus, your best option is to continue at your original med school (assuming this is an option. Are you on an official LOA or did you drop out/get kicked out? How long have you been gone?). You can still try to transfer, but realize it is an uphill battle to do so.

i am on an official LOA from the school. I guess my best bet is to try and go back to the school then 🙁
Thanks for your replies.

I have been gone for 2 years now.
