I'm currently a 3rd year student at a University and I'm having a hard time deciding what I should do. After attempting some pre-med classes a few semesters ago, I had to withdraw due to family issues that needed my attendance outside of the state. Since I was a semester behind after that occurred, I decided to opt for another major so I would graduate on time.
I'm currently an Ad/PR major and will graduate in the Spring of 2013 but I plan on continuing my education after I graduate in order to take the pre-reqs for med school. Do you think I should go with my original plan or just go back to being a science major even if that means taking an extra year to graduate? Any advice would be appreciated.

Your major doesn't make any difference to med school ad coms. I would opt for the path that allows you to finish your degree and the pre-reqs in the least amount of time. If you have a lower GPA (under 3.5) you should probably take some upper-level science courses along with the pre-reqs. Getting A's in these would help demonstrate you are a good student who can handle the med school classes. Keep that in mind in deciding whether to change back to a science major. If you have a good GPA, the upper level courses aren't necessary.

graduate on time and then do a post bac

I would lean towards this as well. Especially if you don't have many med school pre reqs completed. This might also provide you w more time to get some ec's, shadowing, etc. Under your belt if you're lacking in them.
